Daniel Pinto & Santurion de Massa – the new 2020 Vice-Champions of Portugal!

Last weekend, Alter Real Stud welcomed national and international riders for the CDI 3* and for the finale of the Portuguese Dressage Championship. An extremely competitive weekend, with all emotions at stake!

Daniel Pinto and Santurion de Massa – who got back to the competition stage only last August 2020, after a 2-year break due to an injury of the horse – where also present competing at Grand Prix level.

On the 1st day, the duo proved to be in top shape, overcoming their personal record, scoring 74,580% on the Grand Prix test! On the next day, at the Grand Prix Special, Daniel says he «felt the horse better than ever! I felt him relaxed and super focused, always with me and ready to give his very best. It looked like I was riding at home!» The pair kept the 2nd place with another personal best of 76.362%!

The most awaited day arrived! For DP Dressage Team the expectations where high as Daniel and Santurion would ride for the first time their new Kür choreography. The duo nailed it with a remarkable score of 80,150%, ending up on a piaffe-passage center line at the sound of the audience rhythmic applause, who could not keep indifferent to the choreography and music that perfectly matches Santurion's paces.

«It is a great honor to be back on the competitions with my beloved partner Santurion» says Daniel Pinto. «We cannot forget that only one year ago we could not predict if he would ever be back! We never stop believing and I am beyond thankful to all my team, farrier and veterinaries who worked so hard and passionately to make this possible again.»

This was a super competitive weekend, with the Grand Prix scenario in Portugal getting each day more exciting. Daniel complements «A word of congratulations to the new Champion of Portugal: João Torrão and Equador MVL. It is a great pleasure to compete side by side such a talented young pair! And finally a word of gratitude to our dear Chantal, who never stopped trusting we would be back, to our fantastic trainers Kyra Kyrklund and Richard White, to all the team who is there for us, every single day, for the good and for the bad times. And let’s not forget about our sponsors!»
